Microgrants are made possible through joint partnership between USJETAA and U.S. Embassy Tokyo.

The below dates are for the 2024-25 grant cycle.

Application Preparation:

A grant application explains what your proposed project is, how much it will cost and the details of those estimated expenses. Your explanation is called your “narrative proposal”. Your funding request and justification is your “budget proposal” and is typically in a spreadsheet format. The Microgrant application process uses a Google Form to submit both of those pieces. Your narrative will be entered directly into a Google Form and you will upload your budget proposal to that Google Form and submit the form to USJETAA.

If you would like to plan and draft your narrative in advance, you may download our offline practice template. It is a downloadable Microsoft Word document. This is currently available to serve as a reference only and may be updated once we are able to re-open the application process again. Once the updated application becomes available for the next grant cycle, you will have the option to enter your answers directly into the Google Form. You will be able to save and continue editing your Google Form for 30 days.

Your budget proposal must use our budget spreadsheet template. We have also created a budget proposal guide to help you fill out your budget proposal spreadsheet step-by-step.

A complete microgrant application consists of two parts:

  1. Narrative Proposal (enter your answers directly into the Google Form)

  2. Budget Proposal (upload this to the Google Form)

The application deadline closed on July 31, 2024. Please click here to view the most recent info session (from 2023) on YouTube.

**All successful awardees are required to attend a mandatory Grantee Training Session. Time and date for this training session is TBD and is dependent on the opening of the next grant application cycle.
