Japan Society of Boston Meets Lillian Hanako Rowlatt (Niigata 2003-2005)

In partnership with Japan Society of Boston, USJETAA is proud to share the JSB Meets JET Alumni interview series which explores the JET experience across Japan.

In December of 2024, Japan Society of Boston got to know Lillian Hanako Rowlatt (Niigata 2003-2005).

How has your connection in relation to Japan changed since living in Japan?

Not only do I feel an even stronger connection to Japan and my heritage, but having picked up some of the language has allowed me to connect with my extended family in a way that I hadn't been able to before. I continue to be fascinated with the culture and visit Japan every chance I get. Japan will always be a part of me and will have a special place in my heart.

Lillian is also the co-founder and CEO of Kokoro Care. They conscientiously curate artisanal Japanese food made by local farmers and producers and deliver them straight from Japan to your door.

Check out some of their gift packages for your friends and family this holiday season, or anytime during the year!
